Usability Question

    We are running a web page for our company. At the moment, the page is a single page showing some information about the company, products and contact information.

    Going forward, we would like to add a store.

    In general, we would like to have the following format.

    The top menu should show Home, Company, Store and Contact

    On the home page:
    Top Menu for navigation with cart
    Top section with company information
    Product categories from web store
    Selected products (if possible with pricing information)
    Contact information

    On the store page:
    Top Menu for navigation with cart
    Product categories
    Products
    Contact information

    Is that possible with WooCommerce? I am guessing the answer is “yes”.
    Can it be accomplished with the Storefront template? I am guessing the answer is “yes”, but we need the paid version?

    I am already in the process of setting up a proof of concept, but I am struggling with the content requirements for the home page.

    We are willing to pay for Storefront (or another suitable template), but I would like to know if it can meet our requirements before purchasing it.

    I am also open for other suggestions or recommendations.

  • I would expect Storefront free will do what you want.

    Content and style are separate in WordPress, so you can change your theme as many times as you like if your first choice doesn’t work out. There’s no need to re-enter your content.

    – Storefront comes with a header cart
    – the menu will come from WordPress – menus are a core feature.
    – you can use WooCommerce shortcodes to show categories and selected products:

    – there is a WooCommerce setting to make the shop page show both categories and products
    – contact information is usually in a footer widget
    – you can put content on your shop page and the WooCommerce shop stuff will appear below it
