Use different name for categories

Where would I change if I’d like to change the name of some items in the list? I’m using the plugin to display custom taxonomy categories and I’d like to change the name to something shorter than their full name.

I was thinking if I set a custom field for the categories and use that instead in Collapsing categories. But please give me a filename and line number where I would change the code.
