• I’m completely new to pretty much everything to do with web design. I am reading through WordPress for Dummies to get the hang of this.

I have purchased a one-year web host subscription which comes with one domain name. I didn’t think much about using it at first but have since read that I might have problems moving this domain name to another host in the future if I ever have problems with my current web host. I went with Host Monster.

My question to you, oh experienced ones, is: Should I just go with the domain name that came with my web host or should I go ahead and get one through Godaddy or Register.com to have complete control over it? I really haven’t done anything with my current domain since I’m still in learning mode.

    All help/advice is greatly appreciated.

You should be fine using the domain name provided by your hosting provider. As a domain registrar, your hosting provider is required by law to allow you to transfer your domain if you ever choose to leave.
