I’m working on a new site and the client wants to use a thumbnail of a PDF instead of the filename. So far I can’t see how to do it, and the built-in templates don’t allow it…

Is this possible? It’ll make the downloads page more visually interesting!

  • Hello,

The only way to set a thumbnail the way you want is to use the “Featured Image”. The downloads are stored in a secured folder due to which WordPress won’t be able to generate a thumbnail based on the file content.

Great. How do I display the featured image in my template?

    Hello,

You can select “Box Template” from the “Default template” setting option available in the “General” tab on the “Downloads > Settings” menu.
