    Hello,

how can I use the <!–more–> tag for controlling what is displayed in Home, instead of having to use the excerpt box?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for using Ignite!

The excerpts will automatically use the first X characters of the post (as defined in the Customizer). If there is a more tag, that will be used instead. If there is an excerpt in the custom excerpt box (below the post editor), that will be selected instead of the more tag.

That was the first thing I tried. I set the automatic excerpt word count to 9999 and used the more-tag in a post, worked fine. Then the next post, I wanted to post it completely without an excerpt at all. Result was complete post but without formatting (no bold, no empty lines, no links etc).

Turns out now I have to use the more-tag under every post to have it show completely and with all formatting. Or have I done something wrong?

    Thanks.

Okay I see, there is a setting for showing the full posts on the blog in the Customizer under Additional Options (screenshot).

Sure, but if I set “show full posts”, Ignite doesn’t honor the more-tag anymore and shows full posts regardless of the more-tag somewhere in between.

At least, that’s what happens for me.

Okay there is no option in Ignite to show some full posts, and only part of other posts. For this, the more tag will need to be used on each post.

Thanks, that’s what I feared. I guess this also applies to Ignite-Plus?

Yes, this also applies to Ignite Plus. To add this functionality, I would recommend checking for a plugin on the repository. There may be a plugin there that can add this to your site.
