Use of Cache folder ?

  • when i check my cache folder in the wp-content, and isaw there is lotof temp files, can anybody tell me thats the use of the cache folder ?

  • The cache folder is used by WordPress to cache data queried from the database to reduce the number of queries required to generate each page.

    It was originally enabled by default in v2.0 but was disabled in v2.0.1/v2.0.2 so if you are running one of these versions you can safely delete the files.

    It also has a security vulnerability prior to v2.0.3 which is one of the reasons for upgrading to v2.0.3.

    When I ran the version where it was used, I remember that even when I had a large amount of people coming to the site, there was never a lot of stress on the MySQL, so I am happy they ridded themselves of it.
