  • Hi Massimo,

You can definitely embed a Google Map directly to a post/page. What’s the name of the plugin you’re using? If you let me know a little more about the steps you’ve taken so far and any blockers, I’ll be happy to help further.

    Hi Siobhan,

    thank u for the reply

So, my goal is: have a google map fixed on the “home” after the first post, and this position will be remain. I use Google Maps Easy plugin (version 1.6.5)

    Cheers

    Hi Massimo,

The plugin’s documentation here explains how you can use the plugin to embed a Google Map to your site:

    https://supsystic.com/add-map-into-site-content/

Follow the Shortcode section to add the map directly to a post or page.

The PhpCode section can be followed to add the HTML to your theme’s files. This would need to be done via a child theme.

Could you possibly share a link to your site and point me directly to the area you’re trying to add the map to so I can get a clearer idea?

    Thanks!

    Hi Siobhan,

thanks a lot for your support!

I know that use a child theme it’s the better and clear option, but for this work i will fix the map code in the code of PHP and CSS. This blog is only for internal use.

At this moment by the plugin generated code i tried to put the map after the “masterhead” section, before the 1st post, but this solution does not like at the end. Was asked me to include the map in the footer or header to have it available in every blog page. If better option is present, I will be happy to evaluate

    Hi Massimo,

I recommend against editing your theme’s files directly. Any direct changes you make will be lost when it comes time to update your theme. It’s important that you’re still able to update your theme so that you benefit from future security and bug fixes.

You can include the code for your map by copying your parent theme’s header.php or footer.php files to your child theme and making changes directly there.
