    Hi there,

I have recently transferred a website to another host that was first built on Siteground, with all SG Optimizer settings on, including Dynamic Caching, which is something that only works on Siteground. Fair enough, but the toggle remains in the on position while on the other host, and when I try turn it off it says this function only works on SiteGround. I know this, so I would like to turn it off, but it won’t let me. This is subsequently causing some weird issues with logging in.

Now when I disable/delete SG Optimizer the login issues go away, but when I re-install it, the same old settings remain. This suggests old settings have been saved in the database, but I can’t seem to find them in the database in order to delete them permanently.

So, the question is, how can I re-install SG Optimizer on this site as if it has never been used on this site before and start configuration from scratch for use on another host?

    Hello @sean-h ,

You can find how to completely delete the SG Optimizer plugin and all related data, please check the following thread:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/how-to-completely-uninstall-sg-optimizer-detailed-instructions/

In order to change the Dynamic Cache status specifically you can change the value of the siteground_optimizer_enable_cache field in the _options table in the database from 1 to 0. You can also change the status of other features of the plugin in the _options table.

I’m not sure the new host likes SG Optimizer very much….I deleted and re-installed it, but I can’t seem to find any tables in the database related to it. I would have moved the site to another SG account, but the owner of the site in question lives in South Africa. Anyhow, I will keep playing, but at least SG Security seems to work fine on the other host, so I might have to suggest the owner find another caching plugin. I am basically handing this site over, then that’s it.

You can search for siteground_optimizer string in the database and check the entries specifically in the _options table.

Great, found that one, and the logging in issue seems to have gone, but there are still some other weird red slide-outs from the SG Optimizer saying something about a critical error on the site when toggling off and on the Force https. So I just pasted the code into htaccess myself. Yet the site didn’t actually crash.

What I found odd, considering I have never tried SG Optimizer on another host, but knowing that it doesn’t work fully on all hosts, and that is when I transferred this site, the toggles remained on for functions I know are not available on other hosts, like Dynamic Caching. At least my little php_MyAdmin adventure fixed that, but I have to wonder how many other issues might crop up later on this host.

oh, my other adventure is working with cPanel again….

Let me keep fiddling for a bit…..

It’s a pity, I’ve had to remove SG Optimizer, from this site. I just can’t seem to get it to work properly on this host.

Before deleting the plugin I tried turning off webp but it kept telling me this function only works on SiteGround. The plugin is gone now but there are still hundreds of webp images that were created while still on SiteGround. My question is how to manually delete them all, from cPanel. Failing that they are quite small, as they should be, so as far as I’m concerned they can just stay there.

I am sorry to hear you deleted the SG Optimizer plugin. Indeed, some of its functionalities works only on the SiteGround servers.

Regarding the WebP images, I recommend keeping them as they can be used by adding the appropriate directives to the .htaccess file. For example:

Yea, it was worth a try, at least I learned a few new tricks. I kept the force https, enable browser cache and gzip in the htaccess though, and it seems to work fine like that. But adding htaccess directives for the webp? Not sure it’s worth it as I’m not sure what the owner wants to actually do with this site. It’s mostly out of my hands now.

In the meantime, SG Optimizer is breaking speed records on my own SG hosted websites ??
