    Hi there,

What is the site URL in reference? I would be happy to look into this for you.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Related posts are selected based on the title and content, categories and tags added to a post, and will only appear on any given post if there’s at least 3 good results to show.

At this point there’s only 3 posts total on your site, so for each post there’s only two other possible results. But more importantly, these posts don’t contain any actual content, so there is nothing in them that Jetpack can index to determine whether or not these posts are related to each other.

You can’t use placeholder posts like this to test Related Posts, because this feature simply won’t work if you do that.

Start publishing posts normally on your site. If related posts still aren’t appearing once there’s around twenty or so posts on the site, then we can check if there’s a problem. But at this point it’s completely normal that Related Posts aren’t appearing.

    Hey @kokkieh,

Thanks so much your thorough explanation. I suspected the test posts may have been an issue. I have a related question.

I created the test posts after trying to get related posts working on a development site.

Related posts are displaying on the dev site’s blog posts, just like the live site.

On the dev site, I converted over a hundred pages into a CPT, and tried to get related posts to display. I also did Jetpack’s process to “initiate a sync manually.” Related posts display in the Customizer, but not on the front.

Is this to be expected for the dev site?

Thanks again the clarifications. I really appreciate it!

    Glad I could help ??

If you say dev site, do you mean a staging site that’s hosted online, with an active connection to Jetpack, or a local installation of WordPress on your computer?

Related Posts indexing happens on WordPress.com’s servers, so without an active Jetpack connection to WordPress.com, that won’t work. If you’re using Jetpack’s Development Mode, that mimics the behaviour of some Jetpack features that rely on the connection, but those features won’t actually work.

If your development site is online and connected, can you share the URL so we can check it from our end?

    Sure, thanks. It’s a staging site that’s hosted online. Here’s a CPT:

Thanks for sharing. Related posts won’t be indexed on the staging site with how things are set up.

Thanks for all the support. I’ll set this to resolved.
