• Alan,

Question, I am a big user of tags and I am finding out that the tags also make great search terms and a searchable index for a website.

In you script when it creates the url for a tag it looks like this:
    https://www.ethingstodo.com/tag/aamal/

When I search for the same word the url looks like this:
    https://www.ethingstodo.com/?s=Aamal

Would you be interesting in quoting me a price to make what I hope is a simple change.

When the list of tags are created instead of the end of the url being /tag/aamal/ replace that in the url with ?s=Aamal.

The reason I ask is that when I use a tag the results may only bring back 1 or 2 results. If I use the tag in a sear it may bring back 5, 10 or more results.

Hope to hear from you soon,

    David

    Hey David,

I just want to clarify a couple things first.

So when I go to https://www.ethingstodo.com/tag/eid/ I get eight results. This is because you have eight posts tagged with Eid.

When I go to https://www.ethingstodo.com/?s=Eid , I get 13 results because 13 posts in your site have the word Eid either in their Title, Content or Excerpt.

This is by design in WordPress. What you are asking is for the tag URL to ignore tags in results (by clicking the link in your tag map) and rather use WP to search for the term. Your tag map will still list tags being used in posts but the option of show_count will not work although I see you are not using that option anyway.

    Is this what you want?

Yes, sorry I did not explain it better.

Is this possible and would you be interested?

    Alan,

I guess you are very busy but are you interested in the changes and a price?

Yeah, it’s been a pretty crazy last couple of weeks here. What you want is possible and I can add it in to an update soon as I get a chance.

Try out version 17.0.9. It now has a new option of search.

Let me know how that works out.

    Thanks for the search addition!
