Use WordPress media uploader with Mediapress

  • Hello, I am using WordPress 4.9.2 and the Buddypress 2.9.3 with the Boss child theme.

    I am hoping that it is possible to use the “add media” button from the new post/page with Mediapress on the frontend. I have added plugins that allow me to add html links/optimize the images etc to the WordPress uploads, but this is not available when using the Mediapress uploader.

    I found this site: https://derekspringer.wordpress.com/2015/05/07/using-the-wordpress-media-loader-in-the-front-end/ that gives an example of creating a button on the frontend that opens the WordPress uploader. The example shows how to create the button on the frontend that opens the WordPress uploader, but I am not sure which files to modify within Mediapress to make this change. I have many failed attempts, so hopefully someone can point me in the correct direction. I am pretty sure it is hook I need to use, but even then I do not know which file to modify.

    Hi @starvoters1,
    Thank you for using MediaPress and my apologies for the delayed reply.

    MediaPress currently does not supporting adding media to post directly. It only allows front end gallery creation from profile or(if used on WordPress without BuddyPress, using shortcode).

    If you are looking to allow users to edit post/crate post with Media, I will suggest using BuddyBlog. It allows create/edit and media upload and is freely available(If you are using BuddyPress, Only then BuddyBlog will be useful otherwise, It won’t).

    MediaPress does not manage(allows uploads using default WordPress uploader modalbox yet as it needs some extra context information like which component the media are attached). Sorry about this.

    Thank you Brajesh, I didn’t see this reply before I posted on the forums yesterday with a similar question. We are using Buddypress, so I will try the BuddyBlog, thank you for the suggestion.

    Its not the I want to have members add photos to posts exactly, its that I want our members to be able to add a URL/Link to the photos on their member galleries. Would BuddyBlog be the best option for this?
