Use wp_query for most liked post

First of all thanks for a perfectly simplistic plugin!
I just need to, in some way be able to use a loop to print out the most liked posts. The widget doesnt really fit my needs as i have to include the post thumnail and some custom markup for the list.
Is there any way i can do this directly in my theme php?
