I’ve used the free version of Wordfence for nearly ten years but due to a lot of attacks and fake signups recently, I decided to purchase Premium so I could easily block countries and IP addresses.

After upgrading to Wordfence Premium, amazingly, the attacks immediately stopped and the fake registrations has dropped as well. I was getting over 1,600 brute force attacks a month that the free version was stopping, but Premium also stopped over 1,500 fake registration attempts from foreign countries. IP Location Block just wasn’t working for me any more.

Although I do have to manually block some IP’s from the U.S. (that are bouncing through Cloudflare), it’s not too difficult to lookup the DNS for the IP and quickly block that IP in Wordfence. I’m surprised Cloudflare isn’t more diligent on stopping these spammers from using their service.

Bottom line for me anyway… if you need to block countries quickly, Wordfence Premium is for you.
