    Hi

I was having a little problem with my site and a particualr plugin. The plugin author logged on to my site and installed this plugin to debug what was going on presumable.

Turns out it was all my fault as I had set my wp-config to debug scripts the other day and left it on.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I started to play around with this plugin as it looked good, saw that I could change the amount of memory, which I had been meaning to do.

Anyway I changed it. pressed ok, pretty much ignored any messages, thinking whats the worse that could happen. Cant access site from front end, no plugins work and there does not seem to be an obvious back up of the changed wp config. I did not make one.

Any way I can restore or will I have to do a fresh install.

    kind regards
    mark

    Hello Mark,

The message you ignored, in fact, is the backup method that WCFE Plugin is provide.

It does show note message tells you to never close the Save Dialog message before making sure that the site is still runs.

Do you’ve FTP access to the site?

If yes, please check out a directory inside wp-content directory, that start by wcfe- and end with 32 hash string (e.g wcfe-061dab63d20b44338d99d770b6c6cc04). You still have a backup if you can see “wp-config-backup.php” file inside that directory, the backup is automatically deleted if closed the Save Dialog message from the close button, I’m not sure how you close it, so check if the file exists.

If the file exists, then you’ve a backup from the last stable wp-config.php file. However, this file is encoded and need to be decoded before you can use it. You can email my at [email protected]. Once you send me the file I will send you the decoded version so you can restore it back.

Please let me know when you send me the file as I don’t check this mail every day.

    Thanks

    Hello

Glad you got back to me

Totally my fault for ignoring all the warnings, however as my site is still not live, in the back of my mind its good to break it once in a while.

I ended up restoring the wp-config file from a backup on the server so all fixed. No panic.

The good news is that I now know how to back up from my backup files.

    Sorry for inconveniencing you

    Hello Mark,

    Good news

    Glad you got everything fine

Yeah, get some practice as long as you still in production.

    You’re much welcome

    Thanks

    Hy Ahmed

    I have a similar problem
Two days before I’ve installed wpcf editor and changed wp_memory_limit and enabled memoy cache

In a first moment all was ok but today some javascrip in this page https://www.sognamondo.it/prenotazione/#verifica stopped to work

Ignored backup mails and links in them doesn’t work no more
