• All that this was being used for was an automated repeater that would post additions to my woocommerce store, so i didn’t care, until recently when the plugin reactivated the messenger component, and will not allow me to deactivate it. It just keeps on reactivating itself.

With respect to the Dev team, I am not going to spend hours troubleshooting this plugin or going to forums to propose features. This is a simple problem within the plugin involving a feature that already exists and is not working properly.

I sell vinyl records – half of my inventory is flagged as medical supplies and denied. A quarter of the rest of the items are flagged as inappropriate because they “can’t be used for ads”. This includes anything with non-English titles. So bothering to donate my time to fix this plugin has diminishing returns at best.

    Best of luck.

  • Hi! Thanks for reaching out about the troubles you’ve seen with the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin. I recommend reviewing the product documentation to see if any of the information there can help:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/facebook-for-woocommerce/#is-it-possible-for-me-to-bulk-delete-or-reset-all-of-the-products-in-my-store-that-are-synced-to-facebook

    https://woocommerce.com/document/facebook-for-woocommerce-uninstall-plugin-and-remove-woocommerce-facebook-app/

If that does not work then I recommend using a free mini-extension we have developed to reset the site and clear any current settings. This should set your WooCommerce site so that you could completely start over with the Facebook plugin if you desired:

I hope this helps! Please reply to this thread to let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for those links but unfortunately this is not worth the effort. The messenger portion of the plugin will not accept the checkbox being empty to prevent messenger from overriding my functional chat plugin. Many of the other problems are on Facebook’s side so getting this plugin working has diminishing returns at best. I can post my own links to my products, and noone ever looks at or buys products through Facebook. If this gets addressed by someone getting paid to make the plugin functional that’s great.

Thanks for your feedback, here @eaec. I completely understand that having Facebook and your additional chat plugin conflict with one another is frustrating and while the tools my colleague previously suggested could assist your further, connecting with our developers via our Ideas Board is the best way to make sure that any desired changes can be made to the Facebook extension itself. I’m sorry to hear that you’re not having the best experience, but in order to assist your further, please let us know whether or not any of our previous suggestions have helped change your experience.

We look forward to hearing back from you!

This must have come about in the most recent update because I’ve been using it for months with messenger disabled, and it re-enabled itself. When it is turned off in the settings and settings are saved, the change does not persist. Hopefully that helps you track down what’s going on, me resetting my entire store and troubleshooting it on my end doesn’t seem like it’s going to address whatever is going on in the plugin itself.

I’ve tested this behavior out on my own site, and I can replicate the issue. Here’s an animated GIF of my experience: https://d.pr/i/cCPGa9

As a result, I’ve opened up a bug report on our public GitHub repository at the following link:

    Hi @eaec,

I’m glad you found the response helpful!

Feel free to get back to us in case you have any additional questions.

Do something functional or deactivate, there is no point in getting annoyed that it opens on its own, you close it in vain.

@moveeco deactivated, obviously. Luckily now, it’s been noted and will be fixed. So that’s functional… Police your own annoyance

    Thanks!

Messenger, keeps coming back, much like spamware .
Deactivating (and removing ) facebook plugin seems like the sensible thing to do .

    Solution:
Step one: in the panel on the wordpress website (in the messenger tab) – go to customizing the plugin
Step two: After redirecting to the plugin panel on facebook page, click remove (delete) plugin
Step three: go back to the wordpress panel and uncheck the button in the panel on the wordpress page.

    Hi @bitgit

Thanks for the input – you’re quite correct, this is the process to follow to remove the messenger app.

As @bitgit points out, start from the messenger panel in your WordPress site at Marketing > Facebook > Messenger. Clicking through on the link will take you to Facebook where the Messenger app can be deleted.

Then return to the website tab (it will still be open, Facebook opens in a new tab) and save the setting.
