I meant this: during intitial setup, in order to establish a connection, can this be done with a shopify user account with restricted permissions to the shopify shop? I’ve noticed that when I click on “connect” the shopify page opens and asks to access the shopify shop.

Are you sure you’re using Shop Page WP? It sounds like you might be using my plugin, ShopWP.
