User Activity Not Showing In Tools > Live Traffic

Whilst you can use the “Filter Traffic” dropdown to filter results by “Registered Users”, by default these will only be security events triggered by users either logging in or who have already logged in. There’s a SECURITY ONLY/ALL TRAFFIC toggle in your Live Traffic preferences where you can change it to pick up all activity on your site.

The default option on new Wordfence installations is SECURITY ONLY to prevent too much data building up for users with less available resources, but you can by all means switch (even if temporarily) to see if that works for you.

Thank you for the reply. I think I may have figured out what is happening. I have a system on my site where newly registered users are automatically logged in when they click on an activation link that is emailed to them at registration.

That must be why there is no record of them under Wordfence’s “security only” live traffic monitoring. That auto-login must not be picked up by Wordfence. Does that sound right?

Yes, if another plugin or custom code logs the users in through a link that isn’t using the normal WordPress login flow this is likely the cause.

Ok, thanks for the clarity. That was really confusing me. Knowing about the security/all traffic toggle is a big help!
