• I am new to WP but it appears to be successfully installed. I created two users (User1 & User2). User 1 makes initial post and it appears in WP for world to see. User1 wishes to change initial post and cannot do so: “You are not allowed to edit comments on this post.”

User2 can reply to initial post without problem. Both users are set up as Level 1 users. Can an original poster not amend their posting?

  • Are you sure User1 really has become the owner of the post? I have problems with a new install of WP 1.5 where all user posts (except for admin posts) become owned by the user with the lowest user id number.

When a user tries to edit comments on someone else’s post, I think the error message is as you described. When a user tries to edit someone else’s post, the error message I get is “You are not allowed to edit this post”.

Well…I guess. I deleted the post entirely and started again. This time User1 COULD edit their initial posting BUT User2 could NOT edit their comments (User2).

OK, maybe it’s not the same problem, but if you think it might be, there’s a post on that subject: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic.php?id=25735

That discussion also refers to a bug report for the advanced edit form, including update patch: https://mosquito.www.ads-software.com/view.php?id=911
