Too many failed login attempts. Please try again in 12 hours. This is been shown. I have kept lockout for 4hrs only. I do not understand why this is happening. I donot see any one locked out user in the live traffic. Even when I disable the wordfence plugin, the user is still locked out. I have enquired with the theme author and he says nothing of that sort exists in his theme. I need to understand what is happening here.

Hi @yesoakshith, thanks for getting in touch!

If indeed your Wordfence > All Options > Brute Force Protection and Wordfence > All Options > Rate Limiting are set to 4 hours, it looks to me like a message I’ve seen before from another plugin.

The phrasing of “Please try again in X hours” appears to be a message from Limit Login Attempts Reloaded. You may be able to rename the plugin folder for this or disable it from your Wordfence administrator dashboard in order to see if it fixes the message. If you wish to keep this plugin installed, check its settings to see if 12 hours is an amount that can be configured to be the same as your Wordfence settings.

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi

I do not have the limit login attempts reloaded plugin. Do you mean it is in wordfence??? If so then how can I disable it? Can you please be clear on how to disable it from wordfence administrator dashboard?

    Thank you

    Regards

    Hi @yesoakshith,

No, Wordfence doesn’t state the number of allowed login attempts or the number of hours that a user will be blocked for.

I’m more than happy to take a look at a site diganostic to see if I can see the issue for myself and where it may be coming from. You can send one to wftest @ wordfence . com using the link at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks again,

    Peter.
