User google maps to show information

im creating a website for my local community and would like to map maps (using google maps) to show pointers of where all the parking is in the conunity…

id also like, if possible, that when people roll over a pointer or click on a pointer is shows a post or information on the price of parking etc etc

is this possible?? I seen this on other site but showing points of interest/art pieces in a town. could any one point me in the direction of a tutorial please
