User Name Already in Use is me

    I just purchased wordpress hosting with GoDaddy.
    When asked to select the user name, it said already in use.

    I want ptanino as my user name for my blog-based website, ptanino.com

    I currently have a blog at ptanino.wordpress.com (it’s lame) and my username there is pTanino

    I called GoDaddy & I contacted support at w~p~.com … both places told me that the user name must be used by someone else.

    When I tried to log in here (w~p~.org) pTanino was not in use so I registered the user name.

    So… I AM pTanino on both wordpress.com and www.ads-software.com.

    Question: How can I use the pTanino id on the blog-based website ptanino.com?

    Your user name and password on this forum have absolutely nothing to do with your blog that is hosted on GoDaddy, your account name with Godaddy, or your wordpress.com account. They are in no way related or intertwined. Now, on the other hand, if you want to use that as your account name on your GoDaddy hosted WordPress installation, have at it. You’re in control complete of that.

    You’re absolutely correct… sure wish I could have gotten a straight answer like that in the process of three different support phone calls and the other online support!

    Now all i have to do is figure out the “have at it” part! Thanks again.

    P.S…. just to clarify:
    The folks at Go-Daddy were awesome. They helped me figure out where the user-name issue was coming from and walked me through getting it cleared up (had nothing to do with w~p~ as ClaytonJames described above). One of the tech guys went above and beyond his scope of service to help explain things to me. Lots to learn … glad there’s this forum with people willing to share their expertise & knowledge!
