• I have guest authors that I add as WP Users. I add them as users because I like to have their name listed on the author byline (which also sorts all of their articles and works with my author box). Their articles are submitted by a submission form on the front end (so they aren’t accessing the back end). Can I set their user role to “no role for this site”? Since I’m the one posting the articles.

I did a quick experiment and it seemed like guest author articles that I post and approve (from the submission form) work fine even when the user is set to “no role.” But I wanted to make sure doing this isn’t going to be an issue. I thought that using this setting might be a good idea since there’s no need for them to access the back end.

    Thanks!

  • I don’t see any issues in what you are doing. I take it you have logged in as one of your “no role” users to be sure. Obviously they will still be able to access the admin but should only see their profile info.
