I am using the Twenty Eleven Theme and when I activate Redux ver. 3.9.9 and 3.9.10 I end up with an error when I try to load a user profile.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 122880 bytes) in /data/24/3/15/27/3015842/user/3348587/htdocs/WPC/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 129

I have just inactivated Redux and this error disappears for the registered user login. Something new has occurred though. Now when I try to go to the Dashboard Home as admin, I am redirected to the admin profile. I cannot get back to the Home page. Something has written the redirect into a file somewhere. I think there has to be a conflict with one of the other plugins that happened when I activated Redux ver. 3.9.10. I did not have this issue with 3.9.9. I also moved the Redux folder out of the Plugin folder on the server and this did not help the situation. It appears that something was written to a file and it is not going away after the plugin is disabled.

Overall, it seems that something is going on with the newer versions of Redux in interaction with one of the plugins that I am using. I will need to restore my site back to the earlier version in order to regain access to my Dashboard Home page.

  • mzolow, just to let you know, there were literally two lines of code changed between 3.9.9 and 3.9.10. This is not to say I don’t think Redux has any part in your current woes, I just do not believe it is the new version causing the problem. More like something in the process of deleting, and re-adding the files, between activating and deactivating the plugin, that might have caused some type of … quirk? … with another plugin. Anyway, I’ve attached the memory tag to this post, you may want to review some of the other posts regarding memory size issues, perhaps there is something to be gleamed from those other issues.

Hi radiok, I went to the memory fix and used the define code for max = 64M. This did the trick. I have upgraded to 3.9.10 and can use my admin login and my registered user can see profile now. The weird glitch with not being able to go to admin dashboard home is not happening at this point. One big difference is that I have not updated the Groups plugin yet. Previously I had updated that plugin before Redux since it is first in the list of plugins. I am now going to try and update the Groups plugin and see if everything stays fixed. If it creates any of the errors and problems after I update Groups, I will have to reach out to the author of that plugin and see what we can figure out. I will let you know as soon as I know. Thanks.

I updated Groups plugin and the errors have not returned. Thanks for all your help and the research into the memory issue fix. I am back on track.

mzolow, I’m glad to see everything worked out. Too bad it took you so much wrestling, but alls well that ends well, at least considering how little I had to do! Any way, would you please change the status of this post to resolved? Normally I’d handle that, but this post is outside “my” forum, the one devoted to Redux that is.

I am very grateful for all the support. It is a great thing to have the WordPress developers here for the support. Thanks again.
