  • Same here and using Really Simple CAPTCHA. One site is bombarded daily with spam user registrations and comments. I took the meta widget off the home pages thinking that would work for the registrations. Comment Luv may be part of problem on some of it but not sure what is causing and interested in stopping spam junk. Good luck and hope we all find the answer.

After posting my comment on the problem I did a search and found the link above that may be of some help.

Unfortunately CAPTCHA doesn’t always do the trick. We noticed the same thing with our Profile Builder plugin so we added features like custom redirects, admin approval or email confirmation. All of these combined will help you eliminate completely user registration spam.

I’ve covered this in more detail here: https://www.cozmoslabs.com/18858-how-to-fight-user-registration-spam-on-your-wordpress-membership-site/

I am trying out “botdetect”, and the spam is actually increasing. What I found is that the captcha is working, but the registration still passes though without filling out the captcha stage. For example, the spam bots fills out only the username and email and not the captcha, our registration page displays the field of captcha is not filled in(which is good), but the spam user and email sends to my admin account with a user request in pending(which is bad).

What my wish list would be that if the captcha field is not filled out, the user and email should be rejected in that instant with out an email sent to my admin box nor a reply to the spammer. I will look forward to testing out this upgrade if possible.

In the past few months I have been bombared by spam registrations– all coming from “laposte.net”. My husband (who manages the back-end of my site) as installed Stop Spammer Registration, SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam, and Stop Spammer Widget… none of which have been able to stop the spam. I don’t really understand what’s going on here, and why registrations associated with this one email provider keep getting through.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

We have been having the same problem in the past day or so. I am not quite sure how these are getting through. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting hammered as well by registration spam, tinkered with all the options but no luck?

    Suggestions?

I’ve noticed too many user registration on two of my sites. Most of them from Poland. That is kind of weird as one of my sites is in Greek.
Why do these people register. Can someone more expert tell me? Thanks
