Hello! Love the MSTW Bracket Builder plugin! Makes my life 1000000x easier. Is there a way to give different WordPress user roles publishing capabilities on the plugin? Currently, my contributors are able to submit a bracket for review, but I want one of my contributors to be able to publish and edits brackets without my approval. I use a user role management plugin (Members by Justin Tadlock) to give permissions to users for different plugins.

I am using the Premium Version 1.1.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Owen,
Thanks for posting here. This is a great question that has been a topic of interest across the entire MSTW line. I dabbled with adding some Roles & Capabilities in the MSTW Team Rosters plugin and the (now obsolesced) MSTW Schedules & Scoreboards plugin. The problem became that every site had their own unique requirements for their access controls, and did not have the knowledge to leverage the functionality using Justin Tadlock’s Members plugin (a great plugin) or another option. So I stopped adding Roles & Capabilities to the plugins going forward.

SO adding custom roles & capabilities in the plugin is relatively simple. Getting it right it much harder. My question to you is what exactly are you looking for? Is it simply one Role for the entire plugin? Or are you thinking of multiple different roles? And can you live with WP’s built in capabilities, or do you need other custom capabilities? If so, what do you think you need?

If you can tell me a bit more about your needs and how you see the admin working, I’ll see what we might be able to do in the next release.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for getting back to me. What I’m looking for is pretty simple. I really just want a built-in WP role (editor, author, or contributor) to be able to publish tournament brackets. Ultimately, I don’t want to give my scheduler admin rights on the website, but I want them to have full capabilities on the plugin.

If integration with Justin’s Members plugin is simple on your end, I would love to be able to add different capabilities to different roles I’ve created, however, really all I’m looking for is for someone else on my team to be able to create, publish, and edit tournament brackets without needing the WP admin role.

    Thanks,
    Owen

    Good info. Thanks.

There are a couple of ways to do this. But I’d like to make sure we get it right. Since we’ll may be getting into some of your site details you don’t need to share with the world, please contact me directly [email protected].
