I am trying to use Ultimate Member for user role management in a wordpress private site.

I use another form system (CFF) to register my users because ultimate member form is way too simple for what I need. Then I want to use a Zapier process to allocate the user to a role A or a role B based on some criteria which the user filled during the CFF form.

I noticed that in the User page of WordPress when you want to change a user its role you get in the user page two drodpowns related to user role: one dropdown from native wordpress user role where all the roles appear (including the ones of ultimate member) and another one specific to Ultimate member where only user role using prefix um_ are showing.

    I don’t understand why, how etc… please explain…

    Hello @laurentm

Users in WordPress can have multiple roles. The “Ultimate Member Role” setting allows you to assign the second role if you need this for some reason. This setting is optional, usually it is empty.

Ultimate Member has a tool for creating user roles. You can find it on wp-admin > Ultimate Member > User Roles. The plugin adds the um_ prefix to the Role ID of the created role. This is an additional way to mark custom roles.
