    Ultimate Member version 2.2.5
    Wordpress version 5.8.1

Issue: User roles assigned pages not showing up on the nav menu.

    —————————————————————
    Current Settings:
Selected pages/posts have been assigned their access privileges to selected user roles correctly.
    -Dashboard/Appearance/Menu/Selected_Page/Logged_In_Users/Selected_User_Roles

    Occurance:
When a user is logged in, they are presented with the same nav menu as a logged out user. Their assigned pages/posts are not visible on the nav menu.
The pages/posts however are still accessible by direct url input.

    Trouble Shooting Attempts:
Deactivated all plugins except Ultimate User.
    Activated theme “Twenty Fifteen”.
Logged in and out using various user roles.
    Pasted selected url’s for testing

    Result:
    Nav menu visibility problem persisted.
Access via direct url input successful for page/user_role relationships
Only started happening over the last 3 days.
The user role “Administrator” has full nav menu visibility.

I couldn’t find the problem/solution myself so turning to some expert help in here. Hoping this is a small issue that can be easily resolved.

    Thank you support.

    Hi @phillipnauer

What was the last version of UM before you upgrade to the latest version 2.2.5? Did you try re-updating the Nav settings with the UM menu settings? Does it save the UM Menu settings?

    Hi Champ Camba,

Previous version UM 2.1.21 upgraded to 2.2.5

I’m not sure what re-updating the Nav settings with the UM menu settings means so I’m guessing I have not tried that.

This is what I did to possibly answer your curiosity
I made some adjustments to the Nav Menu (Dashboard/Appearance/Menu/Menu_Structure) and it seemed to save pretty well.

I have just now tried making some changes in Dashboard/Ultimate_Member/Settings/Appearance, to see if the changes would save. They were saved successfully as the profile changes reflected in the relevant pages.

If this is not the Nav settings and the UM menu settings you were talking about, I am definitely interested to find out if there is a connection I have missed and if you would be able to direct me to a positive outcome.

    Thanks Champ

    Hi @phillipnauer

I’m referring to these UM Menu settings:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/10WU0ECxbJP14KRUx5GwdxjxzJpqvlo6z/view

Does it appear when you edit the Menu in WP Admin > Appearance > Menus? Have you tried re-saving it with your preferred settings?

    Hi Champ,

Yes, those settings have been tested and they save perfectly fine. I had problems screen shooting my example but I have tried many different user roles for different pages and they are still no visible on the Nav Menu unless you are an Administrator Role.

The roles in the UM menu are set and saved and after logging out as Admin and logging back in as Admin, the menu settings are still the same.

Is there anything else that you could think of to resolve this problem?

    Cheers Champ.

    Hi @phillipnauer

Does your site have a caching plugin or server cache module? If so, please try disabling it and see if this is causing the issue?

    Regards,

    (@phillipnauer)

    Hi Champ.

    No caching plugins installed.

I tested originally by deactivating all plugins except UM. I activated UM default theme Twenty Fifteen. Took it back to as basic as I could for trouble shooting and the problem persisted.

Still trying various configurations to try and resolve but no luck so far. Will try any suggestions that might help.

Is there anything else you could offer?
    Cheers

    Hi Champ.

I found the solution. I understand what you were talking about now that it is working correctly. It was exactly as you said – to re-update the menu and re-save. I thought I had done that but what ultimately had to be done was to reset each page back to allowing “ALL USERS” access to the page, saving it, then reapplying the user roles back to each page.

I have to send you a HUGE thank you for your patience and understanding, and actually identifying the issue even though I wasn’t much help in explaining correctly.

    Thank you again

    Sorry to reignite this topic.

After exploring the website for a few days, I have found that the problem has inverted.

Now instead of the relevant menu tabs being not visible to the authorised user, they are visible at all times but displaying ‘Restricted Content’ (the settings of the page itself).

I’ve tried resetting the access options to – allow everyone, then logged in users only, then selected user roles, tried deleting the page and recreating it and running same access privileges and the problem persists.

Are there any suggestions you can offer?
    Thank you support

Even when creating a new page, adding it to the UM menu, setting the access privileges, it still shows up on Main Menu as “Restricted content”.
