    Hello,

    I am trying to add roles to existing users, but I am not able to.
    Tried using the Default Role option and by using a “Role” column.

    The option to add new roles is checked at the importer options.

    Is there any solution to this?

    @gohandgeo,

    You have to choose between the role column or the default role.

    Are you using both at the same time?

    If you are doing it, the role column has more priority and surely you are not writing the role slugs correctly.

    I have tried them both on their own, and the slugs are correct as I have pasted exactly as they are (the slug, not the full role name), but still no role is added.

    Maybe the problem is:
    1) you import new users
    2) you want to update it

    You have to choose to update also the roles of users that are being updated.

    So, I have tried a test, where I try to update just 1 user, by adding one role.
    But it still does not work.

    There is something wrong with your site. With all the users that have this plugin if this error was general, we would have many support threads and just now I have tested on my test installation and everything works as described.

    I have never had the user roles update, with a Roles column in my CSV.

    I have made more tests and all works.

    Are you sure you have activated “Update users” and also the select that allow to update roles?

    I am also having these issues. I am importing 500 users and need them to be assigned to the COMMERCIAL-ROLE. The users import but the role does not update. I made a video of this issue showing it is not working:

    Does this role exist? Are you sure the slug is properly written? If this role exists and is always the same, why don’t you use the checkbox of the role in the import screen?

    yes, the role exists and the slug is correctly written. I have tried using the checkbox for the default role and that does not work. I tried removing the role column from the csv and using the checkbox default role, that does not work. I also tried add new roles not override and that does not work. I have no idea why there is an “add new roles and not override existing” in the password drop menu, but I did not try that. I was not able to troubleshoot this further because our site needed to go live yesterday so I used an alternate method to re-assign all of the imported users to the correct roles. I appreciate the reply and your time on this.

    Maybe some other plugin? Have you tried in a fresh install?
