User roles / permissions / abilities HELP

Im want to allow users at register and i upgrade there account to author to be able to only:

submit posts
edit there own posts
delete there own posts
add images to post from media lib or upload (inc feature image)

this user should be able to do only the above. I dont mind them being able to login to the back end of my webpress site but i would like them to ONLY see the above options and abilities.

basically so they can post to my site under there own author name, other users can then follow this user via there authors profile pages etc, dont want to user to have access to any other option on my site so they cant delete anyone else post etc.

is this at all possible and can someone point me in the right direction.
