• Hi, I recently updated to your new ultimate member 2.0 version.

    This caused my registration page to stop working.

    How it usually worked:
    – an Agent, Contractor, Tentant, Owner etc would register on the website.
    – The website would respond with the appropriate message according to the account you selected.
    – This the activated a review on the inside for admin to approve the account based on the details provided by the person who registered.
    – When approved the member would receive an email that his/her account is approved and could then view the restricted pages based on their role.

    How it currently works after the update:
    – when someone registers they get no message reply
    – can instantly log in without approval
    – and they are assigned the account “None”

    What I have done:
    – I have tried to edit each role again to do the appropriate action as discussed above
    – At the registration page I have made a new dropdown list but still the same result

    Possible solution:
    – The only solution I could come up with is that the “UM Custom Role” field says “no” to all my current roles where if I create a new role the whole process works as it should. The drop down list displays the role and the appropriate response is given to the user but only on the newly created role.

    – The problem I have with this solution is that I would have to then create 8 new roles, move my current members to the new roles, edit every restricted page on my website witch is over 120 pages to allow only the correct new role.

    What I would like to know is if there is a way to change my current roles to be recognised as a “UM Custom Role”?

    Any assistance on this topic will be appreciated.

    Hi @kaizentechie,

    We’ve made some changes to the User roles in the 2.0 version of the plugin. We’ve deprecated community roles and now use only native WordPress roles.

    Firstly, please go to your registration form and make sure that you are not assigning specific role in “Assign role to form” to your registration form. This way the user role will be assigned according to the user choice.

    Secondly, go to your user roles settings in Ultimate member -> User roles and make sure that you have correct settings there e.g. require admin review etc.

    Regards.

    Hi @@ultimatemembersupport,

    both the registration form doesn’t assign to a specific role and the role settings specify that the user role requires admin review.

    As I stated the only solution could see was that UM doesn’t see it as a UM Custom Role and thus when I make the registration form with a drop-down list of roles is shows nothing.

    Then when I add a new role is says it is a UM Custom role and it shows up in the drop down.

    So again is there a way to change my old roles to be seen as UM custom roles?

    I have 2 problems – when people register to my site they can’t choose one of my existing roles and when they get an email it is not in HTML format it comes out in HTML code…

    <div style=”max-width: 560px;padding: 20px;background: #ffffff;border-radius: 5px;margin:40px auto;font-family: Open Sans,Helvetica,Arial;font-size: 15px;color: #666;”>

    <div style=”color: #444444;font-weight: normal;”>
    <div style=”text-align: center;font-weight:600;font-size:26px;padding: 10px 0;border-bottom: solid 3px #eeeeee;”>Tokara Online</div>

    <div style=”clear:both”></div>
    </div>

    <div style=”padding: 0 30px 30px 30px;border-bottom: 3px solid #eeeeee;”>

    <div style=”padding: 30px 0;font-size: 24px;text-align: center;line-height: 40px;”>We received a request to reset the password for your account. If you made this request, click the link below to change your password:</div>

    <div style=”padding: 10px 0 50px 0;text-align: center;”>Reset your password</div>

    <div style=”padding: 15px;background: #eee;border-radius: 3px;text-align: center;”>If you didn’t make this request, ignore this email or report it to us.</div>

    </div>

    <div style=”color: #999;padding: 20px 30px”>

    <div style=””>Thank you!</div>
    <div style=””>The Tokara Online Team</div>

    </div>

    </div>

    The the upgrade problems you are experiencing are similar to the issues I experenced with the initial UM2 upgrade. My issues are now resolved. Perhaps the solutions I used will help you as well.

    USER ROLES. Ultimate Member > User Roles > Mouse over the old/unrecognized user roles and then click “Reset user role meta”.

    HTML EMAIL. Ultimate Member > Settings > Email > Scroll to the bottom of the page and tick the box “Use HTML for E-mails?”.

    If these things do not resolve your issues, then I suggest you contact the UM directly via their pre-sales message system. They sometimes respond to UM users of the free version there.

    Good luck.

    Hi Evollo,

    thank you for the suggestion,

    I have tried the reset user role meta and it didn’t fix my problem, but atleast my emails are working again thank you.

    I will contact them and see if that works!

    Again thanks for the help.

    Have a great day.

    Kind Reards
