User-submitted posts on a specific page?

I have a wordpress for uploading essays; how can I set it up so registered users can submit an essay, and when I approve it, it shows up automatically on the “Submitted Essays” portion of the site?

I have no clue how to use post types or anything like that… a detailed answer would be nice ??
