User upload conflicts with email address as username

The plugin works well enough unless the username is based off the email address.

The uploader does not seem to handle the special characters ‘@’
or ‘.’ and as such the user cannot preview their uploaded images since the path is incorrect on the server.

If there is a quick fix for this, or if the pro upgrade solves the issue, please do let me know!
