I am testing your plugin to stop manual spammers with invalid email addresses from creating accounts. I tested it myself with a fake gmail address and it worked.

But today it didn’t work. The guy tried twice with two different emails: [email protected] and [email protected]. Both of my emails to him bounced with “mailbox unavailable”.

A user was created with [email protected]. This was the first one. Seven minutes later he tried again with [email protected]. This user was not created.

In my CleanTalk.org dashboard for https://SpiritualLifeMedia.com, under the Spam Log, it lists both attempts. So Weird. [email protected] is flagged as a fake email, but the user was created. [email protected] was not flaked as fake but the user was created.

    Why is this?

How can I stop people using fake email addresses from creating accounts via my forms? This is the feature I would pay for. Or don’t I understand how your plugin works?

    Thanks for your help,
    Linda

  • I am having the same problem. Fake emails are currently being allowed by the plugin on my client’s site.

I updated to v5.163 today and subsequently tested it using the recommended “[email protected]” three times with different forms and all three were accepted and the emails sent.

I rolled back to v5.162, tested it again with the same email and it was accepted again.

The plugin had been working before I updated to the latest version. It is apparently not working at this time even though I’ve rolled it back to the previous version.

I am using the paid version BTW.

Thank you for your attention to this.

    Hello @linda1111, @richsadams

@linda1111, the test was failed because we direct a less sensitive filtration for order forms. To prevent your money loss in cases of false positives. We can hard-reject fake email addresses for order forms if you want. Contact us via https://cleantalk.org/my/support/open, because it is a part of paid service.

@richsadams your case is not the same, [email protected] should be blocked anyway and any form when you are not logged in as a site admin. Make sure you do the test in incognito mode. If so and the protection still passes you through, contact us via https://cleantalk.org/my/support/open to let us know your account data.

Hello @alexandergull. Yes, I should have mentioned that I was able to use the test email address, “[email protected]” while not logged in and in the incognito mode on any browser.

I opened a ticket shortly after posting my earlier note.

    Thank you.

@richsadams got it, let’s talk there.

@alexandergull, per my note on the support page, I tried upgrading to v5.163 again and the plugin began working normally. I’m not sure why it stopped working after upgrading it the first time, but I can confirm that v5.163 is working as expected now.

Thank you again for your prompt attention to this.

Thank you also for the great plugin!

    Best wishes.
