• So I’ve tried a few times to install and when I get to the Step 5 of installing I receive a message that either my username or password are incorrect or the server is not working. I’ve checked with my host and this doesn’t appear to be true, so I’m sort of stuck.

What might be involved is that I am running the older version since I’m setting up a website for a nonprofit that receives free domain hosting. Their server is not updated with the current versions of MySql and PHP. They do meet the requirements for 2.0.11 so I’m using that version.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Ryan

  • 99.9% of the time one of those values are wrong – maybe an extra space or a misspelling – something
    Who is your host?

i’m hosted with Speakeasy in Seattle. It seems like they are more a Broadband co. than a hosting one. I’ve checked those values over and over. <Sigh>.

can’t one of their support techs help you out?
If you have phpmyadmin, you can log in with the db user and db password you created if you have it correctly. Then you can see the db host and name of the db wordpress will use – this will confirm your wp-config.php values.
