• Hello. I am sorry if I am writing this post in the wrong section. Well, I realized yesterday I wasn’t able to log in my site even though the login information I was using was 100% correct. So I took a look in my database and realized that the username was changed to “APPLEINC12” I changed it back to normal and continued my job but then when I checked on other sites in the same server the same thing had happened to most of them. How do I resolve it? And do you think it is an attack?

  • While you definitely did the right thing in checking your user table to see if there were any unauthorized changes to admin accounts, it is very likely that the source of the hack hasn’t been patched yet, so it will just keep happening.

You should investigate the plugins and themes you have installed to determine if one of them may be the source of the hack.
You would also want to consider the version of WordPress core you are running.

May I ask if you are running an SEO plugin – and if so which one and which version?
