• Every time someone @chris a person named Chris, I get sent an email. No I’m not subscribed for the notification on a thread. I haven’t been on this board in years and it’s happening with new posts. It must be the @username.

Is there a way to turn it of? I’d like to continue to get notifications if I use the board but not the amount I get now because someone @chris.

Maybe a reply to user button or something like a retweet?

Thanks, Hope I’m making sense, haven’t finished my coffee yet.

@mattyrob No, this is happening because someone @ the wrong name. I get notifications for new threads all the time.

Hmm… that shouldn’t be happening. I’ll ask someone to have a look at this.

Still trying to locate the correct person…

You should be able to disable the notifications from the search terms on your profiles.www.ads-software.com page.

Yours would be at https://profiles.www.ads-software.com/chris. When you log in there, there is a little link labelled “Notifications” next to your name. At the bottom, you can uncheck the box to disable the search term notifications from the system.

After talking to the person who developed this particular feature, we’re pretty sure that this is down to user error. Not yours but the fault of those using @username. For example, if ChrisSmith posts here and someone refers to them as @chris as opposed to @chrissmith, then you’re going to get the email notification.

There are plans to try and develop smart username completion at some point but even then there’s going to be no 100% guarantee against user error. ??

If I hear more, I’ll update this topic.

I wouldn’t want to disable notifications, then I wouldn’t be notified of my own posts.

@esmi, perhaps just a reply to button, like a retweet would help and would probably be easier than a smart @ given how many people use this forum.

Thanks for the help. It wasn’t a major complaint just an annoyance and I wasn’t aware if this happens to other people. I’ll just have to make due with not being the only Chris in the world. ??

That link I posted will disable only the notifications you want, not all notifications possible.
