Usernames-Allowable characters?

  • Hello once again fellow WordPress users….

    We’ve been dealing with gremlins at the site and this morning I’m learning that while WordPress doesn’t disallow certain characters during the registration process, WordPress usernames don’t really work with characters other than lowercase letters and numbers.

    Is this correct? Can anyone contribute any additional guidance on this?

    a link to a document that explains allowable characters for wordpress usernames would be appreciated.
