Hey there, great plugin! Just need some help with a new issue I’m experiencing.

I got a notification that users who for sure had not yet voted could not vote – says that they already voted when they had not.

I tested with a friend who I know for sure had not yet voted (different IP, location, device… everything) and they couldn’t vote either.

Any help appreciated. I sent a link in the proper location. Thanks!

I think the reason is some kind of caching plugin which loads the site first time and then save the data and then loads always for all with same parameters also same IP. Please deactivate all caching plugins and then check again.

I was wondering the same. I’ll try excluding these pages and plugins from caching and see how it goes.

What’s strange is that I havent had an issue for the first 4-5 months.

    I’ll keep you posted.

I’m still experiencing the issue. Can you provide any additional guidance as to what my issue might be? It was working fine for 4-5 months.

There were no changes relating voting in updates of last months. I would really recommend to completly deactivate caching and then try again. All caching plugins I tested can’t be deactivated only on certail pages. I still see a United States IP (but I am from Germany) when I debug my IP in developer tools. It is “35.208.6….”. So everybody who visits the page has this IP. You can debug it be typing “cgJsClass.gallery.vars.userIP” in console developer tools.

I was given a code by my host to add to my .htaccess that is supposed to be able to do this. I followed the instructions in this link (which was provided by the host) for a single page: https://www.siteground.com/kb/disable-dynamic-caching-website/

They said they could confirm that this page is no longer being cached. I guess I had to take them at their word, but if you’re saying you’re still seeing the site from an american IP while you’re in Germany then that paints a different picture. Could there be propagation time here, or something?

I’ve also cleared the cache in the hosts back end multiple times and in the dashboard.

I can try disabling caching but that’s not a long-term solution. Need caching to keep the site even remotely fast. I’ll try turning it off again and test again, but it didn’t help last time…

Thanks again for your help. This is so odd…

    DISCUSSED … due to caching

Sorry, I completely forgot to update.

Long story short, this was indeed due to caching. But it wasn’t from any caching that was set up on our end.

Our host changed data centres and I needed to update our domain’s A records. I didn’t receive the e-mail from them notifying me of this so I didn’t know I had to make the change. I guess Siteground, my host, was doing us a solid by showing a cached version of our website rather than it just not working. This is why we couldn’t find any cache to clear.

Thats my best guess, anyway, because the minute we updated the A record the contest voting started working again.

Thanks for your help, and my apologies for the confusion. You plugin was indeed NOT the issue!

It is good to hear that everything is fine now.
Thank you for your constructive feedback.
Best wishes and have fun with contest!
