A client has been having issues with users being unsubscribed, apparently without them knowing it.

He has gone into his unsubscribed list and noticed a few work colleagues had unsubscribed in the mix of people. He asked one person he works with if he unsubscribed and he said he hadn’t. It seems strange, we thought it may be because the newsletter may have been blocked by a firewall from the office, but other office staff are still in the subscribed list.

And before you suggest the users may be unsubscribing and are too embarrassed to tell the client, even his own private email addresses (@hotmail, @companyname) have been unsubscribed multiple times. And he definitely didn’t unsubscribe on purpose.

    Any ideas?

    Anything?
    Anyone?

    Hi
I am having the same issue…
    Have anyone an idea?

I’m experiencing the same issue. I tried to track it down in the access logs on my server, but the URLs are too cryptic to match the URL to the subscriber. It would be nice if the devs weighed in on this.

My only thought is that something in their email chain is analyzing the links as the mail comes in and is “clicking” the unsubscribe link for them.

I have the same experience in September 2019. 26 subscribers were deregistered on 26 September 2019 at 19:21? All on the same date and time?
I am now running on Version: 3.39.0. According to the Changelog ran on 2019-09-24 Version 3.37.0.

I finally ended up contacting Mailpoet support on this. They indicated that something in the BuddyPress plugin can cause this behavior. There’s something about a status column in the WP Users table that both plugins reference. I had this plugin installed, but it was disabled. Since I wasn’t really using BuddyPress, I deleted the plugin and haven’t had any issues since.

Hi, hello, I’m having the same issue. Suddenly on 11 october 2019 a bulk of 202 subscribers was unsubscribed by the system.
    I hav no Buddypress.
Please, does anybody know how this happens and what can I do?

    Have a nice day! Charlotte
