My apologies to everyone, I am relatively new with WordPress but I come from a technical background.

My org is having this issue where we have users able to edit their own directory entries with any information they want displayed, then it gets approved before it becomes public.

Recently though, we have had a lot of users that can’t accomplish this because when they click to edit their entry, it says that they don’t have permission. At first, I thought it was because some users weren’t linked to their directory entry, but I tested that and it didn’t work.

I then checked the Roles tab in the Connections menu. It was set so that people with a specific role have certain permissions. For staff, it was set that they can add or edit their entry moderated. Just those two checked. I looked over the other options and confirmed nothing else sounded like it had to be checked.

I made sure the user I was having help me test it had the correct role assigned and that his account was linked.

Has anyone had experience with this or might know what else I can check?

What version of Connections and the Link addon are installed?

We are on 10.4.45 for Connections and 4.4.5 for the Link addon.

Where is the “when they click to edit their entry, it says that they don’t have permission” error displayed? Can you please show a screenshot?

I will get that for you. In the meantime though, I believe it shows across the screen and says something along that lines of “Sorry, you don’t have access/permissions to edit this”

I am waiting on a user to get back to me for the screenshot.

Ok, my initial thought is that perhaps another plugin is blocking access to the WP admin.

I am trying to upload some images but when I click on image it just wants a url. Can I send these to you via email?

I have the error message and another screenshot that I think will be relevant.

The easiest way to share screenshots is to upload them to your Media Library. It will give you a URL you can use here. This way, you can easily delete the screenshots afterward.

Alternatively, you can open a support ticket in your account:
