Users create "my page" by selecting categories

I am looking to add a “my page” homepage of a site, where the user (subscriber level) can define the categories they are interested in, which would then dictate their homepage content once logged in.

Are there any themes or plugins that use this functionality? I have searched for a while and decided to see if anyone here has done this.
