Users on Main blog vs. Network blog

Hi guys,

I’m running some tests on my local environment (there’s no way of linking to it), and I ran into an issue with user permissions. I’m basically trying to prove the following statement, as seen on <a href=”https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Create_A_Network#Things_You_Need_To_Know

“By design, all users who are added to your network will have subscriber access to all sites on your network.”

Here’s what I do:

1) After installing everything and enabling the network, as Super Admin I add two new users on the main site: an Editor and a Contributor.
2) As an Editor, I create a new site (say, “Editor’s Site”).
3) As Contributor, I access Editor’s Site, but I fail a current_user_can(‘read’) check on one of my templates.

Obviously, the Contributor passes the same check on the main blog, but from the statement above I figured it was just a matter of registering on the main site…

I’m not running any plug-ins, and I’m not changing any capabilities from the Contributor or Subscriber roles.

Is there something I’m missing, or is the statement above not up to date? Or is there a setting I’m forgetting to check and enable?
