Users unsubscribed when they did not unsubscribe

I sent this in January to their email support and because I’m not a paid customer, they sent me to unrelated help docs and did not answer this pretty crucial question. I hope it is answered swiftly here.
I have seen a few users who were subscribed to the newsletter being unsubscribed without their knowledge. They purchased a WooCommerce product and did not click the subscribe me checkbox because they were already subscribed, and then they get unsubscribed from everything because they did not click the box.
Please tell me this is a bug that can be fixed. Subscribers should only be able to unsubscribe from the manage account link or unsubscribe link, not be unsubscribed if they do not check a box that’s asking them to possibly subscribe again.
I’ve looked at the support forums and see that others have had this question/problem and no support has been given.

Please stop unsubscribing unsuspecting users who did not click that option.
