Hi I need two printers to print the orders – is this possible? They are located at different places.

  • Hi. With the plugin it can only target one active printer per server.

Ideally how would you like the plugin to work with both printers?
Would the printer chosen to print to depend on delivery location, etc?

There are two sides to the business a take away and table service so ideally need the kitchen to get a tickets and the bar get tickets. Kitchen is located offsite a few doors down.

If you are happy to print exactly the same order on both printers every time, then this may be possible with a few changes to the existing plugin. However, if you need more logic, such as choosing the printer depending on the ordered items, or some other field, then unfortunately, this is not going to be possible with the current plugin.

I do recognise the need for this kind of logic and hope to have a solution in the future, but can’t promise any schedule for that.

Hi Lawrence, thanks for your message printing the same thing on two printers is perfectly fine and probably better. How would i go about doing this?

Great, thanks for the quick response. In this case, I may be able to provide an updated version of the plugin.

Thankfully, the current plugin already supports connections from multiple printers, but it only prints to the active one. I expect no real problem printing to more than one. Please give me a few hours to test, I can’t promise a solution (just in case there’s an unexpected issue) but I think it will be fine.

Alternatively, we can provide a solution for you that will definitely work, based on email. This is often preferable actually, because it provides better compatibility with other WooCommerce plugins, since they will almost always add the required information to order notification emails. Also, email printing can use HTML, so generally will look nicer.

If you would like to try the email solution then let me know here first, and then get in contact with Alex (who responded to you initially) directly via our UK support at [email protected]. We’ll get you set-up to test it. This takes minutes, so if you have a printer already then I recommend trying it first. Alternatively, I’ll attempt to modify the plugin and will let you know later if it is a viable option.

Thank you – email could be interesting as there are bits on email that we need that don’t currently print. I will email alex now about this.

@getmeleads ok great, if you also need additional info on the print out, then the email solution is certainly going to be better for you.

It seems that Alex is not on the support line today, so I’ve asked for your mail to be passed on to me directly so will be in touch soon by mail.
