Using 2.2 as a CMS with blog

    Thought I’d share some more info. Here are some settings I’m trying to use right now…

    With this setup in place, I’m getting a 500, Internal Server Error, when trying to access /my-blog/.

    Setup:
    ======

    WP2.2 is installed in the site root directory.

    Dashboard — Options — General:
    ================================
    WordPress address (URL): https://www.mydomain.com
    Blog address (URL): https://www.mydomain.com

    Dashboard — Options — Reading:
    ================================
    Front page displays:

    [x] A static page (select below)
    # Front page: Home (– this is a WP Page I’ve created for site root)
    # Posts page: My Blog (– this is another WP Page I’ve created, to display the latest posts, with a slug of “my-blog”)

    Dashboard — Options — Permalinks:
    ===================================
    I’m using /%category%/%postname%/ but I can include the prefix /my-blog/ if necessary to this setup.

    I did something very similar to what you’re planning. The site is https://www.wildmind.org. What I did for the blog part was to create a category called blog and then to put all the blog posts in subcategories under that. It works just fine. The rest of the site is static pages (about 600 of them!).

    I think this is easier than trying to use a page to display posts.

    I am having a problem with the display of the blog page too.

    with default theme the blog shows up by clicking the blog btn, but when I use the theme “CMS” and click on the blog page, then I have a empty page in the browser – probably a server error.

    I chose the CMS theme

    The wordpress is installed in the wp folder for testing purpose.

    Can anyone shed some light on this issue.

    When you created a page with the name ‘blog-page-title’ for the weblog it should be assigned a template that is capable of displaying posts. You can set that in admin > manage > pages > edit the page you chose and set the template on the right side at ‘page template’. If you then set that page as the ‘posts page’ in admin > options > reading, it will display the posts correctly. To create such a template, just copy the index.php, open it and on the very top add (between php tags) /* Template Name: any-template-name-you-would-like */ .

    I included the page for your convenience and updated the CMS theme to include the template.
