Using a filter to change the filter dropdown labels

I’m using a custom field as a sortable and filterable option in the plugin. I’m using the filter provided in the FAQ to change the display of the custom file in the list but need to know if I can also change the display of the filter dropdown. The custom field is rendering a number which I need to convert to something more readable. Is there a filter for the filter dropdown?
