• Hi
I am new to the world of wordpress and web programming in general. I have had a lot of experience as systems manager and worked with SQL server and customizing MS Office Products. I am about 2 weeks into learning about wordpress and starting to customise themes. My question is I find using the editor in WordPress difficult when switching between files. If I bypass the editor and open the files in Notepad++ (which I have just downloaded) would changes I make to the files be effective in the website once they are saved and does having the files open in Notepad++ cause any problem.

I realise I could just try it but I am trying to get moving asap

    Regards
    IC

I use NotePad++ for editing files and have no problems at all unless I make an error that breaks something. I do that locally in my development environment as well as occasionally “live” via FileZilla at the server…just be certain to always have a backup saved and available before making changes. Also, no, having a file open does not affect whatever is already saved at the destination.
