    This theme is brilliant.

I am not entirely sure this is even possible, as I try to understand block themes, but is there a way to use a version of the Front Page query loop on a page? For example, having an Archive page that is just a full, paginated 100-posts-per-page loop?

As I said, I’m still trying to grok block themes, so no worries if it’s not possible to do this, I just figured I’d ask here rather than spending half a day trying to figure it out, in case there isn’t a way.

    Thanks!

    Hi @bixfrankonis,

I’m glad you like it! Sure, it’s possible. You can copy the Query Loop block from the front page, insert it on any other page or template, and either have it inherit the query of that page (default behaviour) or disable that setting in the block settings and set your own filters for which posts to display in the loop.

I must be doing something wrong. If I copy, say, Loop (List) and paste it into a page, the formatting comes out wrong.

@bixfrankonis The “Loop (List)” is a template part, so keep in mind that any changes you make to it will update that template part on all templates. For example, if you uncheck “Inherit query” for the Query Loop inside it, the post list will break on all archive pages.

If you open the Front Page template and copy the Query Loop block from it, you should be able to paste that into any template or page.

Hm. The formatting still goes weird. I feel like this will be one of those things where six hours form now I will find a user error on my end.

@bixfrankonis There is some post content specific CSS in Beaumont that causes some issues there. When editing the page, try:

    1. Selecting the post title block in the Query Loop
    2. Click the “Styles” tab in the right sidebar
    3. Click the plus next to “Dimensions” in the panel, and then click “Margin” in the list
    4. In the “Margin” setting now visible, set the top and bottom margin to 0

Save your changes, and that should fix the margins.

Ah yes. Thanks! Now I’ll go see why the font on the date is wrong and where the bottom border disappeared to.

Yes, good. Sussed out the font and border stuff.

But I only now realize that by using the query loop from Front Page, I don’t get the pagination that exists in Loop (List).

Maybe I am going about this the wrong way. Basically what I am trying to do now is this:

I’d like to make an archive page, or maybe call it an “all posts” page, that functions just like the date-based and category archive pages: that nice column of posts, probably set to 100, and then pagination.

I can’t figure out how to do this. Or, really, if it’s not technically possible as things stand, I’d like to know that, too. So that I don’t spend my time on it, heh.

    Thanks!

Okay, so I actually did a bunch of adding Template and Template Parts and got it working. However, if you compare it to a category page, you’ll notice that the “all posts” page has some rows where the dates wrap, despite the same rows on the category page not doing this.

I’ve methodically been through the dimensions and alignments on every piece of my “all posts” template and the default Archive template and cannot find a single discrepancy.

Can anyone spot something I’m not?

    I’m baffled at this point.

Good crap, two minutes after posting that I found the issue using Inspect Element in Safari. There was a class on the date box in native Archive template that wasn’t on the date box in my “all posts” template. Now to use the inspector to fix this weird vertical alignment problem.

    Posting just to close thread.
