    Hi,

I’m not sure if this is the case. Better Search uses it’s own algorithm and will completely overwrite the search results that WordPress throws up.

I don’t know how Relevanssi functions, but I would suspect, this might also do the same thing.

The only option is to give it a go and see what works best for your site.

See below the reply from the author. Regular wordpress search does search for table-press entries. Same thing is not happening in better search.

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

TablePress does integrate into the regular WordPress search, so that all tables that are published in posts or pages will be searched (unless you are maybe using a plugin that also affects the WordPress search and disturbs this process).
So, all posts/pages which contain the search term in a table should be shown among the regular search results.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

Was the above in response to : https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/searching-3?replies=2

If you deactivate Better Search, do you get the text within the TablePress tables?

I disabled and checked for some of the table-press entries.
    Not showing-up. Surprising.
But relevanssi did show table-press results.

I’m not sure how Relevanssi functions, but it might be processing the shortcodes in post_content. Tablepress uses shortcodes which I believe are processed on the fly when the site is displayed.

This is also why a normal search won’t throw up the results.

I’m not sure if Tablepress creates a custom post type, but if so, Better Search can index that custom post type. You’ll need to confirm this from the author.

Yes, that’s how Relevanssi does it. There’s a catch, though, as TablePress shortcodes are not registered on the admin side, so it takes a bit of a twist to make it work.

TablePress uses a custom post type, which you can of course index, but usually that doesn’t make sense, because you want the table int he context of the post it is in, not alone.

    Mikko, I agree.

I guess an option is to create a separate table in the database that holds the “processed” post_content and it’s corresponding index and to update this on every post save/edit. And, the post_content is also forced to run the shortcodes using do_shortcode

Although, this not going to find it’s way in a free version of Better Search, just yet since it is going to be a significant amount of work currently!
