• Hello,

I’ve had a bit of a look around and I can’t seem to find a solution to this problem. In my link manager I have a couple of links that make use of my Amazon and Tradedoubler affiliate accounts, both of which use the ampersand in the URI. The problem I have is that when I type the link with the ampersands it comes out with ‘&’ instead.
If I replace the ampersands in the link with ‘&’ it simply outputs the same, but when I return to the link manager to edit, the ampersand has returned.
If I then try ‘&’ in the link instead, it outputs ‘&’ in the link, and when I return to edit the link it has reverted to an ampersand once more.

I hope all of the above was fairly clear and that it generally makes sense, and that somebody can shed me some light!

OK, so that didn’t quite work, I’d better do it the long way.

If I type the links using &, it outputs as &

If I replace the & in the link with &, it outputs as &

If I try using & in the link, it outputs, you guessed it, &

In both of the two solutions I’ve tried, when I re-edit the link in the Link Manager, the & has returned as if by magic!

Grr, still not showing all the entities properly. Anyway, it’s all in the source if you need the details. Any help gratefully received!

bump… I’m having difficulty with this as well.

I would like to link to various books at bookfinder.com onto my menu. Each link looks like this at the end:

    ?author=author+name&title=book+title&st=xl&ac=qr

If I paste it in as it looks above, the result is:

    ?author=author+name&title=book+title&st=xl&ac=qr

I tried replacing each ampersand with %26 and the questionmark with %3F and it looks like the link should work correctly. But alas, it does not. For some reason, when that is translated, it adds a slash / to the end of the URL causing it not to work correctly.

    Please advise….

    (I’m running WordPress 1.2.2)

Excuse me for replying to myself. I went into mIRC to try to find out about this. It was suggested that I do a bug report. I dutifully checked to see if there was already a report, I find that this bug has allegedly been resolved in 1.3 (or is it 1.5?)

Too bad there appears to be no patch for earlier wp versions.
